Collection of THE HOTEL HIGASHIYAMA by Kyoto Tokyu Hotel (Commissioned Work)

Fabric of Kyoto 154 years (Awata, Shirakawa, Higashiyama)

This hotel was built on the site of the former Awata Elementary School and Shirakawa Elementary School. Awata and Shirakawa Elementary School emblems, as well as a drawing of the school building and its exterior from the Meiji era, were woven into the textile motif. I created the work with the hope that visitors will be able to travel through time and space through the multilayered weaving of objects that once existed in this location. The textile was made by Kaji Textile Inc. (Kyoto Nishijin Textile).
